Data exchange example

sa

The image depicts the data exchange process between two members. One member is the Service Consumer who queries data from the Service Provider.

The steps explained:

  1. The client's information system creates a query and sends it to the client's Security Server.
  2. The client's Security Server received the query and forwards it to the Service Provider's Security Server.
  3. The Service Provider's Security Server receives the query and forwards it to the application/information-system that provides the service.
  4. The application forms the response and sends it to the Security Server.
  5. The Service Provider's Security Server receives the response from the application and forwards it to the client's Security Server
  6. The client's Security Server receives the answer and forwards it to the client's information system where it is displayed or otherwise used.

  7. Both Security Servers download the global configuration from the Central Server once per minute. The global configuration lists all the members, subsystems and Security Servers in the environment.
  8. Both Security Servers use the time-stamping service to stamp their messages.
  9. Both Security Servers use the OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) service to validate their certificates.
